| 1.Question;
Find out if the breeder is considered
a puppy mill or puppy farm? Usually,
if a breeder has more than ten dogs they
are using to breed, then they are more than
likely not truly concerned about the genuine
genetics or health and well being of the
pups they sale. They are in it for the money
and that's it! Sure they will guarantee
the health of the pup for a certain time
period, although, that is because they can
back it up with another pup from another
litter in no time at all. This leaves you
stuck with a puppy that usually isn't the
one you picked in the first place. Other
problems are that most of the time the breeder
isn't positively sure who the Sire was.
They just know that a Dam got pregnant and
they'll guess which Dam it was. Puppy Mills
are also much more likely to have illness
and health issues both physical and psychiatric
then a cautious and caring breeder due to
the large over population of dogs gathered
in a small space. Do yourself a favor and
ask the breeder how many pups they sell
every year. If they're honest it will give
you a good idea on whether or not they are
breeding to improve the breed or just breeding
for the money! |
| At
Kelly's Alaskan Malamutes, we will only
breed 3 litters this year. We carefully
consider the health and well being of each
of our Dams and allow them to skip a mating
cycle before allowing them to mate. We only
use one Sire in our breeding program. Our
goal is to assure all current and future
owners that they will have the very finest
Alaskan Malamute possible. The results are
we have a 100% satisfaction of all of our
past and current owners. |

Question; How much empathy does the breeder
have to your questions and concerns?
You will have questions prior to purchase
and after you have brought your new Malamute
into your home and family. Do they seem
considerate and polite with you. Do they
seem like they know it all? Do they seem
frustrated? Ask them simple questions that
most people already know the answer to or
common sense easily explains the answer
too. If they seem to mock you or treat you
like your ignorant. Then you might have
trouble getting answers from them in the
future. |
| At
Kelly's we had to deal with several breeders
when we purchased our first Mals. We found
that many of them were not the most approachable
people. Let's just say not the most polite
either. Most of them found it hard to explain
anything about the breed other than price
and how much experience they have in breeding.
Then we found it very unpleasant trying
to get answers to questions we had after
we brought some of our pups home. That's
why we have made sure that when you purchase
a pup from us we will attempt to answer
each and every question you have with compassion
and understanding. We will always call you
back and assist you in resolving any issue
you have concerning an Alaskan Malamute
period. Even if it isn't one of ours. Besides
this helps us better understand the breed
better ourselves. Trust me, if someone believes
they know it all about Alaskan Malamutes,
they're in trouble, because just when you
think you've seen it all. You haven't. |
| 3.
Question; Determining
Standard from Giant. This question
is one of the most popular we get. The truth
of the matter is there are not many breeding
programs left that have even a true m'loot
or pure Giant Alaskan Malamute left as a
Dam or a Sire. While many have evidence
that there might be some m'loot in either
their Sire's or Dam's they breed, only a
very few have a full blooded m'loot in their
breeding program. |
| At
Kelly's our sire, Maximus, is a full blooded
m'loot or Giant Alaskan Malamute our dam's
are pedigreed with mostly all m'loot. Although
they do have some recognized as AKC standard
bloodlines in them. The major problem in
defining standard or m'loot is mostly do
to the fact that the AKC doesn't recognize
the Giant Alaskan Malamute period. So when
breeders advertise Giant Alaskan Malamute
it only refers that there is some in their
bloodlines. This doesn't truly mean that
their pups will be larger then the AKC standards
set for the breed. Our track record indicates
that all of our pups are much larger than
Standard Alaskan Malamutes. Please
see our owners page for evidence. We'll
just say we don't do lap dogs at Kelly's
Alaskan Malamutes. We are currently partnering
with a few other small breeders who do have
full blooded m'loots in their program that
will assure us that we will keep the m'loot
bloodlines thorough in the future, rather
then doing what most large breeders are
doing by just moving into standard lines
of the Alaskan Malamute. |
| 4.Question;
Determining truth in cost. Some
Mal breeders will lead you to believe that
their pups are the most affordable because
they only advertise the purchasing price.
They don't tell you the true up front costs
which include shipping and in initial vet
fees? |
| When
you purchase an Alaskan Malamute from us
we only give you one cost. The entire cost
that will get your new puppy from us to
you. It is all included in one price. This
includes the pup's price, shipping, all
vet fees, and micro-chipping. We've seen
some people pay other breeders far more
than they do us for a pup after they were
forced to pay extreme shipping charges,
pay for the transport crate and kennel and
absurd fees such as storage and feeding
costs. At Kelly's Alaskan Malamutes, we
charge our customer one flat fee. This assures
our new family members that we won't raise
your shipping costs or inflate them. Everything
is included. |
| |
| These
are just 4 of the major reasons you should
choose us for your next Alaskan Malamute.
If you need further reasoning just contact
us and we'll put you in touch with many
of our current owners who will verify just
how good our Alaskan Malamutes are and how
we've treated them. |
